Deadline for computerisation of arms licences extended
ISLAMABAD: On the directives of the Ministry for Interior, NADRA extended the deadline for the computerisation of arms licenses to October 31.
Accoring to a statement issued by NADRA, this was done due to the wide spread rains and 

floods in Sindh and the dengue epidemic in Punjab. Earlier the last date of submission of forms for conversion of manual arms licenses into computerized was September 30.
A NADRA official said that the authority had designated around 158 centres across the country to entertain applications for conversion of manual arms licenses into computerised cards.
He said that separate counters had been set up at NADRA’s centres to receive applications and added that 24 counters had been set up in Islamabad centres, 13 in Multan, 30 in Quetta, 14 in Lahore, 10 in Sargodha, 32 in Peshawar, 11 in Hyderabad, 10 in Sukkur, 13 in Karachi, while some centres had also been established in other cities under the arms license project.
He said that the Interior Ministry had earlier fixed September 30 as the last date for submission of applications for conversion of arms licenses.
Regarding the required documents, he said that one would have to bring his/her original Computerized National Identity Card (CNICs) and original license at the time of submission of the application form.
The application forms are available at the centers, as well as on the website of the Interior Ministry. The required documents include two photocopies of each CNIC and the manual license, along with two photographs and two duly filled forms.
The authority is charging a Rs 1100 fee for the conversion of Prohibited Bore License and Rs 600 for Non-Prohibited Bore license, he said.
NADRA to help provinces in computerization of arm licenses
Karachi—National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) would help the provinces in computerization of their manual arm licenses to curb incidents of lawlessness. Deputy Chairman NADRA, Tariq Malik on Sunday said the authorities in Punjab, Sindh, AJK and Giglit-Baltistan have expressed their willingness to conduct process of computerization of arm licenses for them which has been envisioned to ensure transparency and to check illegal weapons. Talking to APP, Tariq Malik said the Authority is currently engaged in computerization of arm licenses which were issued by Ministry of Interior for which September 30 has been fixed as last date for submission of forms.
The Authority has not yet received any request from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, he said, added “we have state of-the-art infrastructure and trained and qualified manpower to develop and manage Arms License Management System and we are even ready to provide our services to the provinces.
Responding to a question, the Deputy Chairman said response of people for computerization of their arm licenses is very good and they are visiting the 158 designated centres across the country to get their work done.
He said to complete the task during stipulated time separate counters have been set-up in designated centres to facilitate the license holders.
Of the total, 13 counters have been established in Multan, 30 in Quetta, 14 in Lahore, 10 in Sargodha, 32 Peshawar, 24 in Islamabad, 11 in Hyderabad, 10 in Sukkur, 13 in Karachi while some centres have also been set-up in other cities under the arms license project. Although NADRA is processing arms licenses on behalf of the interior ministry, the approval of each license application is the sole discretion of the ministry. NADRA is only processing those applications which have the approval of the ministry. Original Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and original licenses (along with photocopies) are prerequisite for the revalidation along with application form available at centres and the interior ministry. Card renewal fee of Rs.1100 for Prohibited Bore License and Rs. 600 for Non-Prohibited Bore license is being charged along with any payable in respect of government license renewal fee due.
The original arms license booklet, retained by NADRA, will be forwarded to interior ministry for post verification.—APP

Fake arms licence holders to be tried under section 420 PPC

Federal Minister for Interior, Senator A. Rehman Malik has directed the Printing Corporation of Pakistan to provide complete record of total number of copies of arms licenses printed by Printing Corporation of Pakistan and issued to Federal and Provincial Governments since 1947 and all Fake Arms License holders would be tried under section 420 PPC and other fraud and cheating related laws onwards. He issued these instructions while chairing a high level meeting at Ministry of Interior here Monday.

The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Interior, Chairman NADRA, Director General, Immigration and Passports and Inspector General of Police, (IG) Islamabad.
It was decided in the meeting that FIA would enquire total number of Arms licenses (PB, NBP) issued by Ministry of Interior over a period of ten years starting from 2000 onwards. FIA shall conduct enquiry based on the record of National Bank of Pakistan which was authorized to collect challans and fee deposits.
NADRA shall revalidate all Arms licenses issued by the Ministry of Interior as well as the Provincial Governments with immediate effect. Rs. 1100 for PB and Rs. 600 for NPB will be charged as revalidation charges of Arms licenses. All applications for issuance of Arms Licenses will be received at all local NADRA offices who shall issue arms licenses from the same counter. Minister for Interior will inaugurate the distribution of Arms Licensees at Islamabad NADRA Office on September 22, 2011.
Minister for Interior also directed the Printing Corporation of Pakistan to provide complete record of total number of copies of arms licenses printed by Printing Corporation of Pakistan and issued to Federal and Provincial Governments since 1947 onwards. NADRA was instructed to computerize employee’s record of ICT Police. Minister of Interior also instructed Ministry of Interior to approach Establishment Division for computerization of all Federal Government employees’ data through NADRA.
Foreigner’s registration, their entry and exit should be consolidated in the National Database by NADRA. For this purpose, NADRA will develop software. It was decided that foreigners shall get Exit Certificate from local police authorities; otherwise, they may be stopped from leaving the country.

Country divided into nine zones for renewal of arms licences
ISLAMABAD: A decision has been taken to purge the country of illegal weapons and important steps are being taken in this regard.
The country has been divided in nine regions to rid it of illegal weapons. As many as 158 centres have been opened in 130 districts of the country for renewal of arms licences. The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has been given direction to complete the process of computerization of arms licencesissued by the Interior Ministry by September 30, 2011.
According to Interior Ministry sources, Nadra has fixed Rs1,100 (one-time) fee for the renewal of prohibited bore and Rs600 (one-time) fee for renewal of non-prohibited bore licences.
Nadra has opened 13 centres in Multan region, 30 in entire Balochistan, 14 in Lahore region, 10 in Sargodah region, 32 in entire Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Peshawar, 24 in Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, 11 in Hyderabad region, 10 in interior Sindh including Sukkur and 13 centres in Karachi region for immediate issuance of computerised arms licences.
Deputy Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik in an interview said that at these centres, the applicants would have to present regional computerised national identity card to get computerised arms licence or renew the arms licence.
Sep 30 last date to obtain computerised arms licences
LAHORE: The arms licence holders have been advised to obtain computerised arms licences from their respective National Database and Registration Authority(NADRA) centres before September 30.

In a press statement, Lahore Region NADRA General Manger Col (r) Muhammad Iqbal Malik said that applications forms for the computerised arms licences would be available with the NADRA offices assigned for the purpose in the Lahore region and those would start receiving applications from August 29. He said that forms could be downloaded from the Interior Ministry’s website www.interior.gov.pk. The federal government is launching a countrywide campaign from August 29 for authentication of arms licencesand conversion of manual arms licences into computerised arms licenses.

Nadra begins revalidation of arms licences
The National Database & Registration Authority (Nadra) has started the revalidation process of arms licences issued by the Ministry of Interior.
Nadra Deputy Chairman Tariq Malik said that the process will provide transparency and authenticity of arms licence and proper data will be available with the Ministry of Interior. He said Nadra will process arms licences on behalf of Ministry of Interior; however the approval of each arms license application is the sole discretion of the ministry. Nadra will only process those applications which have the approval of the ministry.
He said original CNICs and original licences (along with photocopies) are pre-requisite for revalidation along with application form available at Nadra Centres and Ministry of Interior website. Nadra would verify the CNICs from its database to check the genuineness of an applicant while the applicant s credentials would also be checked by different law enforcement agencies. Card Renewal fee of Rs1100 for PB (Prohibited Bore) licence and Rs600 for NPB (Non Prohibited Bore) licence will be charged along with any payable in respect of Government license renewal fee dues. The original booklet will be retained by Nadra.
All original booklets will be forwarded by Nadra to the Ministry of Interior for post verification. He said that Nadra has designated 158 centres across the country where a separate counter in each designated centre has been established to receive the applications regarding the renewal of arms licences.
He shared the figures that 13 NADRA Registration Centres (NRCs) in Multan, 30 NRCs in Quetta, 14 NRCs in Lahore, 10 NRCs in Sargodha, 32 NRCs Peshawar, 24 NRCs in Islamabad, 11 NRCs in Hyderabad, 10 NRCs in Sukkur, 13 NRCs in Karachi and one centre at Sector G-10 Islamabad for Arms License Project Site will facilitate the applicants for the Arm Licences.
He said Govt. has extended deadline from August 31, 2011 to September 30, 2011, this deadline encompasses all Pakistan for renewal of arms licences specifically issued by the Ministry of Interior. However, this project does not cater for computerisation of manual Arms Licenses issued by the provincial governments. The above arrangements will facilitate all the arms license holders.
He said whole exercise of revalidation and issuance of arms licence would help government to check illegal weapons in the country while record of legal arms will be updated on district-wise which will be helpful for law enforcement agencies.
